What Is A Good Health Food Vitamin?

The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) recommends a minimum daily allowance for the majority of vitamins, minerals and supplements.  The amounts will vary according to a person’s age, sex and some other factors.  For example, the vitamin requirements for a teenage girl are different than for a man in his seventies. 

It is possible to get the majority of the vitamins you need in a good multi vitamin, however, this is not the best method of obtaining the vital nutrition required everyday.  Vitamins that come from good healthy food is much better for you than vitamins that come in a pill form.  It isn’t necessary to go to the local health food store and buy organically grown vegetables in order to have good healthy diet.  You can get this by following some simple steps. 

Eat lots of fruits, vegetables and nuts.  Try to obtain them in the fresh form, because canned or frozen vegetables do not have as much nutritional value as fresh produce.  Do not over cook the vegetables, this will kill off some of the vital nutrient value.  The skins on many vegetables contain a lot of the nutritional value, so try to include them with your meal. 

If you do eat prepared food, read the labels.  This labeling is important for a person to consider and helps ensure that they are receiving the correct food health vitamin intake from the foods that they eat. The nutritional information is often represented as a percentage of the recommended daily allowance of each vitamin and mineral and can help assess the value of the foods in the quest for good food health vitamin intake.

You also want to minimize your salt and fat intake.  And for most people, it is a good thing to increase your fiber content, with whole grains, nuts and legumes.   Also, a person should increase the amount of water they drink.  Water will curb hunger and will reduce the aches and pains in your joints.

Most people only think of vitamins and minerals when they are sick or don’t feel well.  But the best time to think of vitamin supplements is when you are still feeling healthy.  Vitamin supplements can form an essential part of a good diet, and are helpful for people who don’t get sufficient vitamins in their daily diet. 

Just remember, it is better to get your vitamins from a natural source, they are better for you.  It is also worth remembering that a person’s nutritional needs change as they age.  What nutritional values you require will vary throughout your life.  And while it is best to get the majority of your vitamins and minerals from healthy food, it is also good to include a vitamin supplement.
